What Time Do AP Exams Start This Week?

Morning AP exams start at 8:00 AM local time and afternoon AP exams start at 12:00 PM local time. Schools must begin morning exams between 8 and 9 AM and afternoon exams between 12 and 1 PM local time. Alaska start times are 1 hour earlier than listed.

Plan to get to your testing location 45 to 60 minutes before the start time. Testing often happens in a different room than your regular classroom, and your teacher will not be proctoring. Know exactly where to go.

Do not show up at your classroom. Show up at the testing room your school assigned. If you are not sure where that is, find out today — not Monday morning.

Is Your Exam Digital or Paper This Week?

Many exams will be offered fully digital in 2026. Some exams will be offered as a hybrid digital subject with multiple-choice questions completed online in Bluebook and free-response questions written in exam booklets.

For digital exams, the Bluebook app must be installed and tested in advance. Technical issues and upload problems are common on exam day — do not wait until the morning of your exam to check your device. If you have not tested your device yet, do it tonight.

What If You Have Two Exams at the Same Time?

If two of your exams are scheduled at the same time, one will automatically be moved to late testing. Contact your AP Coordinator immediately to confirm arrangements. You will take the alternate version of the exam during the late testing window.

If you have not already talked to your coordinator about a conflict, do it first thing tomorrow morning — not after the exam has started.

Missed an Exam? Late Testing is May 18–22

The 2026 AP late-testing window runs from May 18 through May 22, 2026. Students cannot self-select late testing. Schools must approve a valid conflict or emergency before they can order a late exam. Late exams use alternate forms but are designed to be comparable in difficulty.

You may qualify for late testing if you have exam conflicts, three or more exams on the same day, school events, medical issues, family emergencies, or environmental conditions. Contact your AP coordinator as soon as possible if any of these apply to you.
